Panda Inn on Harry Wurzbach Road is a no-frills Chinese restaurant that locals keep coming back to for generous portions and familiar flavors. The interior feels a bit dated and straightforward, which sets the tone for an unfussy dining experience focused mainly on the food rather than ambiance. It’s the kind of spot where families and longtime patrons settle in for hearty plates that often yield leftovers to take home.

The menu leans on classic Chinese-American favorites with reliable staples like Kung Pao Chicken, Beef Chop Suey, and Orange Chicken standing out. Regulars seem especially drawn to dishes with rich sauces and well-balanced seasoning, appreciating how the vegetables and meats maintain their integrity rather than getting lost in sauce. Portion sizes are notably large, typical of Texas dining, making it easy to leave satisfied without breaking the bank.

Lunchtime tends to be busy, and it’s currently pick-up only during those hours, which suits those who want a quick, affordable meal without fussing over dress codes or formalities. Dishes like combo plates and fried rice are go-to picks for a filling midday option, often paired with sizable egg rolls that are praised for their crunchy exterior and dense fillings.

This spot appeals most to those who prioritize straightforward, generous Chinese food over trendy decor. It’s a reliable choice for anyone craving solid, comforting dishes with classic flavors in a casual setting. Visiting during off-peak times might offer a quieter experience, but the steady flow of regulars suggests it’s well-loved for its consistency.

I know it's rough looking and dated but the food is fabulous and portions large enough to take some home. Been going for many years and absolutely love it. Lunch is is pick up only right now.

This places lunch specials are unbeatable, Friday is my favorite day for two reasons now! Best Chinese I’ve had in SA so far. I paid less than $10 for this plate, a canned coke and tip.

This place is a gold mine of delicious food. The beef chop suey is probably the thing I’d request as my last meal, no joke. It’s ultra slivered cabbage, celery & onions just made the dish perfection. The sauce was full of flavor, just the right consistency & matched the beef seasoning. Let’s not even forget the eggroll that was the size of a small newborn. The aromatic flavor of the sprouts really levels up the eggroll. The second dish (can’t recall the name of as I’m still dreaming of my leftovers) was a bounty of beef & veggies atop pan cooked noodles. Also a 10/10 and very well seasoned. Not pictured are the crab rangoons - large & generously filled so it’ll take more than 2 bites to finish one off.

My parents brought home leftovers for me to try after YEARS of them looking for a good Chinese restaurant. It's unfortunate we have to go all the way to San Antonio for it BUT holy crap this is so delicious!!!!! We all agree its worth the drive for this food. Portions are huge and definitely get your money's worth. Please open a second location south of Austin Seriously though, amazing food, 10/10 recommend!!!!!

Amazing!!! So far on my #1 spot in SA where I can get delicious fried rice and my favorite which I haven't seen anywhere else Pineapple Chicken, so much of it and so much flavor in a single plate! Their portions are TX sized, egg rolls are delicious and big with a lot of tasty vegetables and pork filling. I frequently eat from buffets but, I can normally eat less than half of their plates all for a very reasonable price! (At the time of this review $15+tax for a plate). Very friendly lady welcomes you as well as takes orders to go over the phone. At the time I go the dining area is closed (11-2:30pm is takeout ONLY). Pineapple Chicken is very well cooked, juicy dark meat portions with the citrusy pineapple flavor infused, mild spiciness added to enhance and sweet chunks of cooked pineapple. The fried rice is not dry nor too sticky, with enhanced beef flavor, some vegetables added as well as some beef chunks, doesn't have the "traditional" soy taste to it, but more like a home cooked fried rice with beef broth. Highly recommend for lunch takeout!

Nope! Im not recommending it to you, but I'll definitely be back again. No more Lee's Kitchen or Fermosa.Garden for us! (Sesame Chicken Plate W/Fried Rice & Huge Delicious Eggroll & Plain Fried Wonton Chips)

Food tastes good, had great proportions for price (a group of 5 with a baby cost us around ≈50), only problem is paid refills for soft drinks
